Dear Parents,
So many thanks again to all
of you who made our Staff Appreciation Day so special. I felt very
appreciated!!!!!! It was also another fun
and busy week with our cuties. Please remember…
1)
To sign and return the field trip form for Sungei Buloh. I have details for all
parents who are joining us on the trip early next week—there is a scavenger
hunt, map and we will do a VERY short orientation for our chaperones before we
leave on the trip. J
2)
Mrs. Johnson’s Surprise! Please send in the money
and page (“I earned money for free schools by doing…”) as soon as your cutie
has earned the money. J
This week we…
*learned the sound, hand
motion and letter formation for the letter Xx.
*added small x-rays
to our feely letter Xx.
*brainstormed words that
began with or ENDED with Xx (x is a
hard letter!) and added them to our alphabet journals.
* observed real x-rays by
placing them on a light box.
*visited the Primary School
and attended a kindergarten assembly! They told/showed us why kindergarten is
awesome! And my cuties met my son Ben,
who is in kindergarten this year.
*Started talking about a
very special person in our lives…MOM! We
will continue with this next week.
*learned about the life
cycle of a butterfly and talked about the different stages.
*learned the butterfly
song.
*read The Very Hungry
Caterpillar, and many other fun caterpillar/butterfly stories.
*used magnifying glasses to
study insects and draw them.
*used plasticine/clay to
make insects and gave them a habitat to live in. These are coming home
today! Take a look at how beautiful they
are and discuss all of their parts with your cutie!
*Made fun “artsy” insects
with craft items.
*Practiced insect patterns,
and had fun with insect addition to 5 using manipulatives.
*attended a kindergarten
performance of BUGZ! It was fun to
watch!!!

INTEGRATING INTO THE PRIMARY SCHOOL
During the last month of Pre-K we try to give
the children plenty of opportunities to visit different areas of the Primary
School and interact with many of the PS faculty. In May we will also have a
magic show in the kindergarten group room, visit the kindergarten classes, go
to the library to have a story with Mrs. Cuthbert and eat snack in the Primary
School cafeteria. By June your children will be Kindergarten experts! Please
see list of dates below….more details will be provided as the dates get closer.
A LOOK AT NEXT WEEK
Next week we will introduce
the letter Uu and continue with insects, still focusing on butterflies.
A library note from Mr.
