We have had a wonderful week despite the awful
haze! We have really had a chance to get
to know one another even better through the sharing of our identity/family
banners and I am so proud of our kiddos.
Our explorations and learning activities this week
included…
*we read We Are All The Same, We are All Different
(an AMAZING BOOK!) and had a lot of discussion around how we are the same (we
are all people, we have families, we eat food, we have homes) and how we are
different (we have different colored eyes, different colored skin, we like to
eat different things, our homes look different, we have different people in our
family….etc). We know that although some
things between us are the same and some are different, we can be friends and
appreciate those things about each other. We also read All Kinds of Children,
The Family Book, Whoever You Are and many more!
*reviewed the sound, letter formation, and motion for
the letter Tt.
*made T patterns with pattern blocks
*one of our kiddos told us about their teeth and a
trip to the dentist when we were trying to think of words starting with T, and
it led us to read fiction and nonfiction books about teeth and practiced
brushing teeth with Mr. Mouth (a big model of a mouth.)
*”painted” and brushed teeth pictures/cut outs (with
a mixture of white paint and toothpaste) using a toothbrush. We are also making
a book about what’s good and bad for your teeth.
*learned the song Little Tommy’s Toothbrush and added
to our Poems and Songs Folder. We also made a paper toothbrush to go with the
song. You can hang your child’s toothbrush and song on their bathroom
mirror to remind him/her to brush his teeth. Have your cutie sing the song with
you (although I warn you that it may be stuck in your head for days!!!!)
*played with Tubes!
*started talking about what we WONDER about…many
creative ideas started flowing from the cuties!
*we shared our identity/family banners
*explored kinetic sand and rainbow rocks
*had a visit from Dylan’s Mom and Dad. They told us a little bit about Thanksgiving
in Canada, and the kiddos made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies—Dylan’s
favorite! YUM! Thanks so much for sharing with us Bridget
and Ian! (There are a couple of cookies
coming home in the zippy pouches so look out for them!)
PARENT
TEACHER CONFERENCES-Oct 15th/16th
I look forward to meeting with all of you to discuss
your child’s progress. The pre-K teachers will be holding Parent Teacher
Conferences on October 15th and 16th. During
conferences we will discuss your child’s strengths as well as goals for the
year. I would ask that you fill
out a form about your child (Sharing About Your Child) that I am attaching to
the e-mail home today, as well as sending a hard copy in your child’s zippy pouch. (Whatever way is easier for you to
do---e-mail it back or write on the hard copy—either is fine.) It just helps us collaborate together on your
child’s strengths and goals.
