Kindergarten...Here We Come!

To our amazing learners! You are Kindergarteners now! Be sure to keep questioning, playing, building, drawing, loving, reading, dreaming, wondering…your beautiful kind hearts will change the world!  Happy Summer!

Love Ms. Lynsey and Ms. Aidah

Update and Pictures June 4 to 7

Just a reminder that tomorrow is a half-day---buses will be leaving at 11:30am (with a lot of honking and waving as is tradition at SAS on the last day of school!)  If your child gets picked up, please make sure you are here by 11:15am in the Atrium to get them.  Teachers all then head to a meeting right after the buses leave, so we want to make sure all the kiddos are picked up.
We will celebrate one more birthday tomorrow! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CHENGQIAN!!!

Be sure to look for the two FATHER’S DAY gifts amongst the end of the year things coming home!

We had such a fun (and comfortable!) pajama day! We watched the Pigeon and Knuffle Bunny books by Mo Willems, ate popcorn, made smores (they were so yummy!) and included our stuffed animals in our play. A great last full day!

Report cards will be available on powerschool tomorrow, you just have to log in to see them.

Have a wonderful, restful, and beautiful summer break, wherever you are!

Update and Pictures May 28 to June 1

PAJAMA DAY!!!  NEXT WEDNESDAY, June 6th
The students have been asking so here it is! The class is invited to wear their pajamas to school on Wednesday. They are welcome to bring pillows and slippers as well.  If your child does not want to wear pajamas, it is no problem at all—uniform or alternate dress is fine. You can also put a change of clothes in your child’s bag (for if they get hot or just want to change out of their PJ’s.) We will read together, eat popcorn and have a little pajama day fun! We are also thinking to make oven smores, so if you would like to send in graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate, please just let me know. There was a lot of cheering from the students when we put this on the calendar!!! Stuffed animals are welcome and invited. J

Is anyone else wondering how this year has gone by so fast!?!?!  I can’t believe we only have one week left to go!!!!! We talked about all of the things we are excited about for next year, whether we will be at SAS or another place. We will be visiting the Elementary library one more time next week, as well as the students’ favorite…the rooftop playground!

The students were amazingly creative this week, and pulled out a variety of materials from the cupboards that they wanted to work with.

We celebrated one more birthday this week! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JEHA!!!

Look out for the yearbook coming home today (some students wanted other students to sign, some did not,) and next week out look for the two FATHER’S DAY gifts amongst the end of the year things!

Update and Pictures May 21 to 25

We celebrated THREE more birthdays this week!  (It’s been quiet on the birthday front for awhile…now we are rolling!  Our class has a lot of May, June, July birthdays! ) HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ISABEL, HARRISON and RHEA!!!

Just a reminder that we have no school on Tuesday because of Vesak Day.

We went on another trip down to the Elementary School this week. We visited Ms. Ganske and Ms. Pepple (the two kindergarten music teachers.) We danced, looked at the instruments and were very excited! We stopped by the art rooms and a couple of the PE gyms (and swimming pool,) saw the ES cafeteria where our kiddos will be eating lunch, and visited the Elementary Office (with HUGE fish!) and the nurses office.  Our students are jazzed about this transition! We will do one more visit to the ES library and the rooftop playground.

Mango and Oreo Cookie needed baths and haircuts and our students were amazing at helping to take care of them while one or the other were getting pampered, as well as helping out. They then became part of their dramatic play! A whole story involving the guinea pigs evolved, and we had many other “class pets” out with Mango and Oreo.

The mark making materials disappeared! A lot of wondering where the markers, pencil crayons, pastels went, until a note was received about how the mark making materials were sad and scared that they were not being taken care of. They were scared to be tossed on the floor, broken and without caps. It was interesting to witness what the students decided to do about it. Ask your child what happened, and if the mark making materials decided to return…

Update and Pictures May 14 to 18

We celebrated two birthdays this week!  (We are starting to celebrate our summer birthdays now as well!)  HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALISA and ARIAN!!

We had a wonderful visit to one of the kindergarten hubs. Ms. Wan and Ms. Clow’s classes welcomed us with open arms, and we read a story together, had a chance to explore as well as eat a special snack with each other.  Next week we will be visiting the music classrooms, take a tour of PE, art, and the nurse and ES office, and eat our snack in the primary cafeteria.

We also had the fun privilege of learning to breakdance with Mr. Kyle (Amelia’s dad!) After impressing us all with his very awesome and fancy moves, the kiddos had a chance to learn. SO MUCH FUN!

Today we are saying farewell to Alisa and her family who will be moving away. We are sad but know your new adventures will be amazing! We have loved having you as part of our classroom family, Alisa! Big hugs from all of us!
